Mr Sankalp Gurjar

Dr Sankalp Gurjar is a Research Fellow with the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), New Delhi. Geopolitics of the Indo-Pacific region, India‘s foreign and defence policies, and African Affairs are his areas of interest. He carried out his doctoral research at the Department of International Relations, South Asian University (A University established by SAARC nations), New Delhi. He is a regular commentator on contemporary developments relating to India‘s foreign and security policy, geopolitics of the Indian Ocean region and maritime affairs. His writing has appeared in newspapers as well as in academic journals, including in Journal of Indo-Pacific Affairs, India Quarterly, Strategic Analysis, Seminar, RUSI, Deccan Herald, International Affairs, African Affairs and The Diplomat. His paper on "Chinese activities in the Western Indian Ocean" was awarded the prestigious Mira Sinha-Bhattacharjea award in 2018. He is working on a book project tentatively titled "Djibouti and the Geopolitics of the Indo-Pacific in the 21st Century".
